What if we could help teachers use cognitive science more easily?

Over the last decade, I have gathered tens of thousands of data points from teachers to inform my work on memory, questioning and feedback. I am now inviting teachers, lecturers, school and college leaders to contribute to my latest research project on the science of learning.

What is the Science of Learning?

The survey explores teacher confidence and school engagement in ten research areas shown below:

Guide To Science of Learning

Contribute to emerging research?

The chapters inside the book explore the following topics using evidence from fMRI research (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) before sharing a teaching technique and the practical resource.

  1. The science and art of learning
  2. Working memory and Forgetting
  3. Neuromyths
  4. Managing attention span
  5. Metacognition
  6. Motivation and emotion
  7. Neurodiversity
  8. Study skills
  9. Building a cognitive curriculum
  10. A future-facing classroom toolkit.

These topics will be offered in future CPD training sessions for schools and colleges.

Teachers are increasingly confident in classroom practice, but many schools still struggle to apply the science of learning consistently across all classrooms.

Complete the survey below (click on the image to take part) – the fully dataset will be released shortly in Autumn 2026.

Science of Learning Survey

This research survey aims to gather insight from teachers, support staff, and school leaders to understand how educators currently apply (or interpret) cognitive science in the classroom. I am particularly interested in the techniques being used to support memory, attention, engagement, and metacognition, as well as your views on the practical challenges of applying research within different subjects, age phases, and neurodiverse learners.

Gathering data from my broad audience will help me understand the strengths and challenges across a range of settings.

The video gives you a good overview of the research and all the resources inside the book.

I will publish the full dataset in the Autumn (2026) once the book has gone to print…
