The book has become my little bible
How it all started?
@TeacherToolkit has published 12 book titles with two publishers, accumulating over 100,000 book sales to date ...
Book 1
Bloomsbury Publishing first asked @TeacherToolkit to write the first book, 100 Ideas – Outstanding Lessons in 2013, after reading content across this website; the book sold 30,000+ copies 3 months after publication, as well as reaching the top-13 of all books on Amazon!
Books 2 and 3
The second book, Teacher Toolkit: helping you survive your first 5 years (2015) is popular with new teachers and was the first bespoke volume of work with artists Jean Jullien and influencer, Polly Nor.
The third teaching book reached international success, and pre-printed copies sold out before the publication date! Today, Mark Plan Teach (2017) has also sold over 30,000+ copies globally and has made @TeacherToolkit, Bloomsbury’s most successful education author, ever!
Books 4 and 5
In 2017, popular bloggers started to write and publish teaching content inside this site; paired up with founder, Ross Morrison McGill, book four and five were published by John Catt (Hachette) on two niche topics - gender and toxicity. Hairdresser or Footballer? (2018) was published at the beginning of UK gender discussions, and Toxic Schools (2018), one of the first books of its kind, aimed to highlight academic research on the topic of school staff bullying and victimisation.
Books 6, 7 and 8
Book six, Just Great Teaching (2019), shares 'insights from across the UK' revolutionising how school leaders think and work.
Book seven, 60-Second CPD (2020) was another collaboration, drawing upon website analytics from this site to offer teachers over 230 sixty-second reads. Book eight was a 50% updated copy of Mark Plan Teach 2.o, published in January 2021, sharing experiences of sharing MPT 1.0 with 30,000 teachers, and 300 schools worldwide.
Books 9 and 10
The ninth book title, Revision Revolution (2022) was another collaboration, highlighting a new for explicit study skills to be taught academically, and pastorally. It remains a popular need for most schools. Book ten was also another bestseller! Guide To Memory was published in June 2022, and remains the most popular training topic.
Books 11 and 12
In 2023, the eleventh book was published, Guide To Questioning to support teachers with adaptive teaching ideas; the premise was that if you have read Guide To Memory, you will know more about how to pose a wide range of effective questions.
Book twelve, Guide To Feedback, released in September 2024, aims to transform marking and assessment techniques (in light of neurodiversity, and AI) for the forthcoming decade. It provides all teachers with new pedagogical thinking.
Book number 13
After a two-year hiatus, book thirteen - The Science of Learning - builds upon ideas from Guide To Memory, taking a deeper look at fMRI scans to learn more about what teaching techniques work, and how they light up electrical signals in the brain. The ambition for this book is to provide teachers and schools with brain data and evidence about what strategies improve attention in the classroom; to support neurodivergent student, and develop neuroliteracy confidence for teachers.
Book number 13 is due to be published in September 2026.
