I’m relatively new to my role as a school governor, and I intend to be the governor I never had as a school leader. The challenge as ever is acting as a guide from the side rather than a sage on the stage; providing support and challenge when needed, offering quality assurance critique rather than getting bogged down in the details.

This document is designed for governors who are new to the role (like me) who are starting to think more deeply about school support and aspects of education, particularly understanding all areas of school and knowing what questions to ask, and what information to understand.
