Can you fight ‘teacher-guilt’ for a day and do nothing?

Has Netflix released a new series of your favourite TV series recently? It’s a sign from the ‘binge-tv Gods’ to every overworked teacher wracked with ‘teacher-guilt’, to put it aside, binge and relax. So, this well-being strategy is an easy one to follow, just tougher for those teachers who are not used to ‘switching off’ in their holidays:
- Do not do any school work today. Watch Stranger Things or another of your Netflix favourites instead.
- Whatever you choose to do, do it all day without feeling guilty that you should be working.
- Or, if life commitments don’t permit you to do this, or if you don’t know or care who Frank Underwood is, take the day to focus on doing something you enjoy. An activity that relaxes you and do it guilt free, all day.
- Whatever you do, don’t do any school work. Allow yourself a day or two off!
- And that’s it.
Why is it good strategy?
- Every teacher needs a break!
- Going back to school having had ‘time off’ will leave you able to complete your work more efficiently.
- A change is as good as a rest. Switching off provides renewed passion and motivation.
Buy lots of popcorn, grab a blanket and comfy pillow. Now, put your feet up!
