One small tweet for man; one giant leap for education!

Today, I celebrate my ONE MILLIONTH read on my very own blog. In the shameless self-congratulatory post, I aim to offer an insight into how I’ve managed to achieve such a feat, in less than 18 months. If you want to know how I have managed to do this, then go straight here!

Blogging and tweeting can be an amazing journey for anyone who embarks on this journey. I too, once gained my very first follower on Twitter in 2008; then in 2010 on via my professional Twitter account. Since December 2013, I have gained another 9,000 follower pushing my readership up to a staggering 50,000!

For me, blogging started way back yonder in 2010, when, after a relatively short period of tweeting happily away to myself and a few others professionally, I decided to start-up my own blog and published my first blogpost. My inspiration for doing so, was originally writing about this and then this. In fact, it was originally over here I started my @TeacherToolkit blog, before moving all my content over to this blog, where you are now reading.

ONE MILLION reads!

There have been many highs and lows in my blogging life and it is wonderful to look back on 2012 and 2013. Blogging gives you a wonderful platform to recollect all your own educational experiences in one place. Whether or not anybody is reading this, it is a great source of reflection and this should be your sole aim.

It is frightening when you look at all the reader-red spots on this map.

Recognition:

Blogging has opened many doors for me. From visiting the House of Commons, to being asked by Bloomsbury Publishing Ltd. to write my first book. I have now signed contracts to write another two books on education. You too can achieve this! There is a current online trend for publishers to source those that blog online. Blogging also leads to various digital awards …

These are always a lovely recognition – even though not your sole purpose – when writing and sharing your views.

So, if you’re starting out on blogging, have patience and give it time. One of the common personality flaws of bloggers, is impatience… One small tweet for man; will lead to one average blog for your community; and hopefully end in one giant leap for education!
