How can you get involved in Fiver Challenge 2017?

Fiver is Young Enterprise’s FREE national challenge for 5-11 year olds. It provides a highly interactive, fun way of introducing financial literacy, resilience and teamwork to primary school pupils.

Fiver 2017 takes place from 5th – 30th June 2017.

What can you do with a fiver?

The Fiver Challenge provides an engaging, fun environment beyond classroom learning for all pupils to experience setting up and running their own business – building early foundations to develop key skills for learning, life and work.

From creating a product, designing a company logo, working as a team, managing a budget and trading directly with the public – they’ll be challenged to think about every stage of the process. All the resources needed to make the challenge a success are available online for you and your pupils. This includes ideas and inspiration, activities, case studies and guidance.

At the end of the challenge pupils will be asked to pay back their original £5 investment and will be encouraged to donate 50p to help others take part in the future. So, it’s a great way to encourage social action and think about saving and budgeting; pupils keep the profits and decide how to spend it.

Results

In 2016, 96% reported Fiver provided an increased awareness in the world of work and 95% reported pupils developed at least one of the employability competencies. The average profit was £124.

Benefits

Fiver not only gets your pupils’ motivated about entrepreneurship, it also supports instilling grit as well as developing teamwork, managing money and communication skills.

Register at fiverchallenge.co.uk and keep your eyes on @TennerFiverYE in the run up to, and during the challenge, to get further inspired!
