On Friday 8th June, thousands of children in playgrounds across the UK will kick, bounce or carry a ball around an obstacle course they’ve designed as part of the Soccer Aid for Unicef Playground Challenge.
The biggest charity football match in the calendar will see Usain Bolt’s World XI take on Robbie Williams’ England team of celebrities and football legends, and this year your school can be part of the action.

Every child has the right to play
Not only is the Playground Challenge the perfect chance to get your school together, get active and have fun, you will be helping children like Raheema live safe, happy and healthy lives.
Raheema is 10 years old and lives in a refugee camp in Bangladesh. She is one of nearly 400,000 children from the Rohingya, an ethnic group in Myanmar, who have recently fled Bangladesh because of violence. Raheema had to travel for 7 days to reach the camp, but now has a place where she can receive vital care and support:
My favourite thing about the camp is the Unicef child-friendly space – here I can learn, play and talk about my experiences – in a safe environment.
Every goal counts
- £17 could provide vaccines to protect 10 children for deadly diseases
- £155 could provide a school in a box to help at least 40 children continue their education in an emergency
- £322 could buy a water pump to provide clean, safe drinking water for a school of whole village

Through telling the stories of children like Raheema, your bespoke Soccer Aid assembly plans, lesson activities and teachers’ notes will help your pupils understand what Soccer Aid is all about and where their money is going.
