What does research say about effective professional learning?

On Saturday 8th July 2017, Tom Sherrington and I will be piloting ‘Just Great Teaching’: a thought-provoking and practical training day for teachers and school leaders. Some of the issues to be tackled on the day include: How to plan lessons that build on good practice? Ideas for differentiation, stretch and challenge, as well as ideas for effective feedback to help reduce workload.

Why Attend?

We will explore the most up-to-date ideas from research and practice to re-boot your thinking so you can return to school, equipped with strategies to use immediately in your own classroom. We will also give you the tools to deliver the training yourself to share with your own colleagues.

Tickets:

You can purchase a place at the event here for just £59.00. The location will be in London and the venue will be confirmed to ticket holders. Read draft details about the day.

If the event is a success, we hope to arrange more – once every half-term – around the U.K. So, if you can’t make this one, do let us know if you are interested in us organsing a similar event at a location near you. Leave your comments below.

Preparation:

To make the training day as useful as possible, we suggest that you focus on a particular unit of work and, if possible, a particular group of students. It may help you to bring some information about the scheme of work you are using and information about the students to support your action planning. For example, class data.

      1. I am also interested in a northern event as I have plans already on 8th July date. I am based in Manchester.

  1. Very interested if coming to Wales although Bristol and/or Birmingham are accessible.

    Thanks

    1. Dear Claudia – thank you for the offer. We are coming down to Gosport on 7th November. I think we already have a school venue there. However, if you’d like to host us on another date – or even have us in for an INSET at your school, do contact Ross here.
