I have had some connection with Teach.com for the past 2 years or so, using their Teach100 resource to rank my website. It guides educators and those in the field of education to find the most relevant blogs from across the web. The list is compiled based on blogs, readers recommend to Teach.com, and is meant to reflect the quality of education blogs that are available.
Teach.com have taken time to thank the teachers in the education Twittersphere, me included!
These tweeters continually inform, motivate, and entertain us on the topic of education, across all subjects, age ranges, and points-of-view.

So, who would get my ‘Top Educator Influencers on Twitter’ vote?
Well, there is an interesting selection here, starting with Maiers and Davis who always feature on my lists; allow me to introduce to you, two more tweeters from the USA and one very popular voice here in the UK. As ever, I’m keen to here who you would suggest are ‘influencers’ in other parts of the world. Do leave your suggestions in the comments below.
Angela Maiers:
- @AngelaMaiers – Based in Iowa, USA, Maiers is an educator, author, and TED speaker. She has over 140,000 Twitter followers.
Vicki Davis:
- @coolcatteacher – A full-time classroom teacher and IT Director at a small school in Georgia, USA. Davis is a speaker, author and host of Every Classroom Matters. She has over 124,00 followers.
Tanya Knight:
- @EducationCoach – Based in Florida, USA, Tanya Knight is recognised as America’s Education Coach” and uses her flagship organisation to aid students of all ages. She has over 68,000 followers.
Richard Byrne:
- @rmbyrne – Byrne is a high-school social-studies teacher and Google certified. He is a five time winner of the Edublogs Award. He lives in Maine, USA and has over 94,000 followers.
Michael Rosen:
- @MichaelRosenYes – Rosen is a writer, poet and performer, a broadcaster and Professor of Children’s Literature at Goldsmiths, University of London. he has over 86,000 followers.

If you write a blog or know of a blog that should be considered for the Teach100, send an email to Teach100@teach.com. Upon submission of a blog, the Teach100 score is computed only once and ranked according to the following criteria.

There are four major components of the Teach100 score, which are aggregated when calculating a blog’s Teach100 ranking. These four components are:
- Social (40%) – Engagement as determined through its combined Facebook shares, Tweets and StumbleUpon visits to the blog and its most recent posts. Ranking weighs shares pointing back to the blogs 10 most recent posts as well as for its main domain.
- Activity (20%) – The frequency of a blog’s updates. The more frequently a blog is updated, the higher its activity score
- Authority (20%) – The overall authority and influence relative to the rest of the web as determined by the number of sites linking to the blog. This methodology is one of the foundations of the Google Search Algorithm and is a commonly used measure of a website’s authority.
- Teach Score (20%) – This is the single subjective factor in the evaluation of the Teach100. The Teach Score considers how media is used throughout a blog, how topics in education are discussed, the timeliness of blog content, the capacity to inform, and the overall presentation of the blog.
