How often are teachers recognised outside their sector?

This week, I was delighted to be informed that Teacher Toolkit has been shortlisted (from over 300 applications) for ‘Best Use of Social Media’ by The Drum Online Media Awards 2016.

The Drum Online Media Awards identify the cleverest, boldest and most original purveyors of news and views from around the world.  From politics to sport, finance to film, the aim is to find the best application of talent and technology online. Large and small. Corporations and individuals.

The Drum Online AwardsNow in their sixth year, The Drum. one of the largest online marketing agencies in the UK,  identifies people and companies in the industry for their work in a variety of categories. It has the obvious big hitters in CNN, The BBC and The Huffington Post to name a few.

Nominations:

You can view all of the categories here; there are 36 different fields of journalism nominated for an award. There are 27 judges who have shortlisted nominees. I am shocked to be shortlisted alongside media giants:

  • BBC News for social media coverage of the UK’s 2015 General Election
  • British Vogue
  • Channel 4 News Facebook
  • ITV News
  • Mirror Online Social Team
  • The Independent
  • and Teacher Toolkit.

Why not take a look at all of the nominees who have been shortlisted in all the different fields?

Ceremony:

The results will be revealed and presentations handed out to winners at the award ceremony on 7th June at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, London. Tickets are pricey(!) and I would like to attend just for the experience. Nonetheless, it’s great to be recognised outside the education sector for (education) journalism.

You can watch below what happened at the ceremony in 2015.

Thank you for reading Teacher Toolkit.
