This post is a seasonal twist on marking and teacher workload. Let Me Mark is an adaptation of Let It Snow!
This is an annual co-blog, featuring a singing performance by headteacher @RachelOrr. The lyrics have been adapted by @TeacherToolkit.
.
The wonderful Christmas song Let It Snow was created by lyricist Sammy Cahn and the composer Jule Styne in 1945. The song shot to fame once again in 1959, when American singer and actor Dean Martin released the song on his album, A Winter Romance.

Oh, the workload is becoming frightful,
But the head is so delightful.
It’s Christmas time they say, and so,
Let it go! Let it go! Let it go!
But the head is so delightful.
It’s Christmas time they say, and so,
Let it go! Let it go! Let it go!

It’s the workload upon which I’m embarking,
And I’ve bought some pens for marking.
Enough of this coloured pen lark!
Let me mark! Let me mark! Let me mark!
And I’ve bought some pens for marking.
Enough of this coloured pen lark!
Let me mark! Let me mark! Let me mark!

When the marking is finally done,
Then the planning now has begun;
But if you’ll really keep in sight,
Assessments will keep you up all night.

The marking frenzy is slowly dying,
But with policy we’re simply complying.
As long as you have the marking spark;
Let me mark! What a lark! Le me mark!
